Amid The ‘Cancel Culture’ In Bollywood, Alia Bhatt Says ‘We Need To Boycott The Boycotts’

After Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan,’ netizens are now trolling actor Alia Bhatt on social media for her film Darlings.’

Many are accusing Alia Bhatt’s new film of condoning domestic abuse against men. Alia Bhatt stars as domestic abuse survivor Badrunissa Shaikh in the upcoming Netflix film Darlings, which also stars Shefali Shah, Roshan Mathew, and Vijay Varma.

Alia recently addressed the growing tendency of films and movie stars to face social media boycotts and how they are scrutinized for even the most minor mistakes they make.

In an interview with the Indian Express, Alia mentioned letting go of her filters while she described herself as “really a person who has no filters.”

She continued, “I don’t think I am a bad human being, so I will never say something wrong in that sense where I feel like I should be scared with the kind of thinking I have or the kind of person I am.”

According to Alia Bhatt, the worst that might happen is that she occasionally makes a mistake and is perfectly fine with it. She said,

“I am okay with making a mistake. Nowadays, you get trolled for sneezing, breathing, or getting out of a car. So am I worried about that? Not at all. Am I worried about making a mistake? No. Not at all because if I don’t make a mistake, how will I learn? Or how am I going to question?”

According to Alia Bhatt, one may grow from mistakes, and she is “good with being wrong.”

“I am okay with making mistakes in general because otherwise, I don’t believe I’ll be able to learn. I am okay with being wrong. I am okay with being incorrect,” she said.

Darlings, Alia Bhatt’s first film as a producer, is slated for release. 

The film is being co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and her production company, Eternal Sunshine. Starting on August 5, the movie will be available on Netflix.
