New Delhi: Ayurveda works differently on people based on their body types. Through the individual doshas, one can know a suitable diet, exercise, and lifestyle. Once you find out the doshas according to your body type, you can attain good health.

What are the benefits of knowing doshas?

The following are the benefits of knowing the body type that helps in being fit and healthy:

  • Maintain optimal health
  • Helps maintain good relations since mental health is regulated
  • Plan a balanced body diet
  • Know your body type

Vata: This body type is governed by the air element

  • Those who belong to Vata types do not gain weight easily. They have a tremendously fine working metabolism and physically are very thin and lean. They are prone to colds and coughs and usually have dry skin.
  • Because of a fast metabolism, Vata body types are very active and full of energy. They have erratic sleeping and eating schedules and so are prone to insomnia.
  • Vata body types are also emotionally very fast, however, they do not retain things but are good at memorising faster.

Pita: This body type is governed by the fire element

  • Those who belong to the pita body type are medium built and have a good, strong muscle tone. They tend to feel very warm and are prone to hair fall and early balding. They have a fast metabolism but not as fast as Vata types. They age very fast and are prone to developing moles and freckles.
  • Pita body types love food and sleeping. Since they are governed by the fire element, they are not fond of hot weather or food.
  • They are good communicators and can easily make friends, though they are dominating by nature.
  • They are very intelligent and ambitious people and passionate about things they tend to like. Pita types people are also prone to get easily irritated yet have a good insight into things they pursue.

Kapha: This body type is governed by the water and earth elements

    People who belong to the Kapha type are usually big built and have wide shoulders.
  • They also have thick hair and are usually overweight or obese.
  • They gain weight easily and are fond of oily and spicy junk food. They have strong muscles and bones.
  • According to the three body types the doshas need to be balanced to maintain good physical and mental health.
