Mumbai: The state cabinet on Wednesday approved the revised cost of Rs 561 crore for widening and upgrading Bhiwandi-Kalyan Shil Phata Road. The Maharashtra government had earlier allotted Rs 105 crore to the MSRDC, which is executing the project. The remaining Rs 456 crore will be given by the state government, said officials.
Work on widening the 20-km Bhiwandi-Kalyan Shil Phata Road to six lanes has been on for many years and due to changes in design and scope of work, the project cost has escalated, said officials. They added that they have asked the MSRDC to ensure speedy completion of the project.
Owing to patches of incomplete work, Bhiwandi-Kalyan Shil Phata Road is accident-prone.
